12 Trumpets:
The 12 Trumpets Program is designed to take 12 children from the local community who have no past music experience and teach them many musical concepts while using the trumpet as a vehicle for learning. The 12 trumpet program was designed by Archipelago to introduce children to instrumental music in an in-depth manner. Over the course of two weeks, children will have daily instruction on the trumpet, musicianship training, and daily exposure to professional caliber live music. Along with learning the trumpet, the children will also learn about different styles of music and how to listen to them. The children will also learn how to listen to music in a live performance and how to be respectful to the performers. The twelve children will also get a chance to create a simple melody of their own. The program will culminate with a final concert for their parents and the public to demonstrate what they have learned during the program. The Archipelago Project will also perform on the concert.
