Nearing the end... iPhone won't let me type in the main box, but I'm almost home. Sitting on the tarmac on Houston and the east coast/Ohio guys are in Atlanta waiting to fly home. Great trip. More to follow! -schumm

Pre-Pool Concert
by Schumm on

Hi Everyone--

Schumm here.  Still getting settled in here in Venezuela as I came a few days later than the rest, but things are going very well.  We're looking forward to playing the big concert tonight at the hotel pool (on top of the drained and covered hot tub, or "hub" in Archipelago-speak).  Little worried about the rain that might come tonight, but Mendez made the call and we're going ahead with playing outside.

I think that Baker is sleeping right now and in general everyone is pretty tranquillo for the time being, but I'm sure things will liven up fairly quickly.  Hopefully the video I'm attaching will work out.  Music is pretty loud right now.

Keep your stick on the ice,
Schumm Sharty

New World Symphony

I cannot believe the level of talent within this group of young Venezuelan musicians!  The concert master of the orchestra has played violin for only 3 years and does not have a teacher who plays his instrument, never the less he sounds great!  All of the kids seem to be very dedicated to their music and they are a real thrill to work with!

Venezuela Update
by Cameron_43 on

Hi Folks,

For those that were curious about where we are in our preparations for our upcoming residency in Venezuela, I thought I would give you a brief update.

Things have been falling into place nicely.  Most of our logistic issues have been taken care of and we're all really ready to go.

The most  exciting  thing happening lately has been the outpouring of donations we have received to take to Venezuela.  Individuals and businesses alike have stepped forward and donated everything from cash to clarinet reeds, mouthpieces, cleaning supplies, instruments, strings, sheet music, recordings and so much more.  If you were one who donated - Thank you so much!

Thanks for reading this post - I'm sure there will be many more to come in the near future.

We had really good Concerts up here in Germany. The Crowd and the schools were amazed about our shows up here!
Right now we are hanging out on a just wonderfull and great place next to Long Deutschees place, enjoying the life after a big "ending party" and are totally relaxed.

Howdy Boys,

Checking out the website to see where you're at.  Loving the audio portion of your site - you guys rip it.  Try to get up on that ski hill while you're there.  Hopefully I'll get to see/hear you boys this summer.

Day Who Knows

Baker and I are at the Bakery eating meat meat and more meat sandwiches.  They love the pork here.

A wonderful show this morning at a special needs school in Axams, Austria.
The children were very excited and stimulated.
That is a universal concept.
Cheers from the road.

Day Five

We finished a successful workshop at the Innsbruck Musikschule where students of all ages worked on making blues, jazz, and polka tunes from scratch.
Schumm has been hot as you can be at the 3 night jazz gigs.  Baker strasse has made a right turn and is now heading in the right direction.  The band summited last night and will be changing its standort to Salzburg.

Standort
by Garrett.Mendez on

Hello From Austria.  Our current Standort is in Innsbruck.  We played our first show this morning and Archi(Bui) was a huge success with the kids.  Dan blew some brot out of the tuba.  We have a jazz gig tonight and more school shows tomorrow.  Baker Strasse is back open, but a little bumpy.

More to come!

Auf Wiedersehen.
